Diy How to reuse your old candle scraps and make new candles. Recycle the old Easter candles and create aromatic candles for your decor
I do not know about you, but for us, our home is full of candles after the Easter has gone… and chocolates! This year I have decided to try another craft, that so far I was avoiding (don’t ask me why, there is no answer) and to be honest, I really liked it! So grab all of your Easter candles or any candle scrap you have and join me to reuse them and create our own amazing aromatic candles!
Materials for Upcucled Candles in a Glass:
– Easter Candles (and candle scpars if you have) – Essential Oil (I have used this one) – Glasses – Hot Glue – Wooden Sticks
When I decided to make this project it was late at night, so it was not possible to visit a related shop to candles to buy new wicks. But this “issue” did not stop me at all. Just be carefull and cut the Easter candles in pieces without damaging the wicks. You can easily reuse them!
To make the new candles all I do is:
Use a pot and water to create a ben marrie. Use also a steel container to place the candle scrpaps inside. Use your wooden stick to stir the wax every now and then until the wax has completely melted. Depending on how much wax there was to melt, it took anywhere from 10 minutes to 25 minutes to melt completely.
If you want your candles to have a great aroma, just add a few drops of your essential oil just before you place the wax on the container and stir quicly with a wooden stick.
Wrap your old (or new) candlewick on a wooden stick and place on the glass container, so that the wick is centered in the middle. If you want to make it even more stable just use hot glue (have in mind that if the wax is really hot, the glue is almost useless). Add the hot wax on the glass container.
Let the wax harden and then trim down the candlewick and you have yourself a new candle.
In case you wax is not enough to feel up the glass, no worries. You can allow your candle to harden and repeat the same procedure when you have more candle scraps available!
Since our candles are ready now let’s decorate them! Hot glue, pom pom, lace ribbons (that I got from here), beads, dried flowers and let’s start!
My candles have an amazing aroma and because of these cute colored glasses, they are great during the night! A trully romantic atmosphere!
