Diy Shrink Plastic Animal Keyholders! A beautifl and easy to make idea for decorating your keys and your handbags!
I have to main passions related to crafts… First I adore to “play” with new type of materials or to reuse old materials and secondly I love colors and hippie style and pom pom and fabrics! Actually the second one is due to the fact that Spring is here and Summer is close? What to say! But when I saw this Plastic Shrink Film, a lamb just appeared above my head and I have decided to try this one also! And I loved it!!! An amazing material that you can actually do many things with it and with your kids’ help, who actually painted it!
My first attempt was a really simple one, because in the past I have destroyed materials and the craft never completed. So this time, I convinced myself to take it easy, at least for the beginning, and try something simple. The first step was actually an easy one, since I had this cute Plastic Shrink Filf with these amazing animal prints from Tiger store. The kids painted them, I have made the holes and then we baked them! Have in mind that the colors will get a big darker and more saturated as the plastic shrinks.
No worries, it is actually really easy and it is defficult to do any mistake. Just put the shapes onto a parchment lined baking sheet and place in a 130C oven. It will take about four to five minutes for your shapes to shrink completely. As they shrink they will curl up, but when they are completely shrunk they will be flat again. When they are flat again, they are ready! Take them out of the oven and let them cool.
We had many ideas how to use them, but we have decided to create keyholders for our daddy and me of course and for a few friends and the rest to use them to create cute labels for the kids school bags.
Materials for the Hippie Pom Pom Keyholders:
– Keyholder ring
– Animal shapes from Shrink plastic
– Jewelry Plier tool set
– Headpins
– Pom Pom
– Jump Rings
– Ribbons (optionally)
The procedure is really easy. Pass the pom pom (one or more) in the headpins and create with the tool a loop on the free end. Connect the animal charm with jump rings to the pom pom beaded part and add ribbon scraps if you wish to have more sparcle details! Connect this to the keyholder ring and you are done!
We have created many for gifts and for personal use of course, but every time we were adding different colors and we were thrilled about this craft! All of our friends now have their own Animal Keyholder with cute pom pom and ribbons! That’s why, our next craft with Shrink Plastic will be a more difficult one…. let’s see…

Έγιναν φανταστικά! Το μόνο μου προβλημα με αυτο το πλαστικο (οπως και με τον πολυμερικο πηλο) ειναι οτι δεν θελω να ψησω τετοια πραγματα στο φουρνο μου ρε γμτ. Ειναι πολυ τοξικα τα αερια που παραγονται και δεν παιζει να μπει στο φουρνο που ψηνω το φαι μας. Αν ομως ειχα ενα παλιο φοιτητικο φουρνακι (το εχω σκεφτει πολυ σοβαρα οπως βλεπεις γιατι θα ηθελα να ασχοληθω με τον πηλο) θα το δοκιμαζα σιγουρα!
Μαρω το συγκεκριμένο χρειαστηκε μόλις 3 λεπτα και τα εβαλα μεσα σε σακουλα για ψησιμο. θεωρω λοιπόν ότι ετσι δε θα υπάρχει κίνδυνος. τωρα αν θελεις να το δεις πιο σοβαρα, σιγουρα ένα ξεχωριστό κουζινάκι θα ήταν ότι έπρεπε!
