Saturday morning and I had to go in Athens center for a walk and coffee with family. Of course, this was the perfect opportunity to increase my collection with craft materials and more specifically to purchase more paints. Yes, I have to admit that I am already tired with the Winter and the weather and I am waiting for the Spring to join us. So, I decided that this is the time for more color in my daily life! DIY Metallic Colored Wooden Long Necklace for everyday!

Materials for making Painted Wooden Necklace with Fish:

  • Acrylic paints (got them from here)
  • Paint brushes (got them from here)
  • Chain
  • Little wooden fish
  • Wooden circle for jewelry or crafts
  • Jump ring
  • Stencil
  • jewelry glue

I had these wooden materials for a long time ago and I did not have any idea what to do with them, so i kept them in a box. But this weekend, it was the perfect time to use them! The reason was the metallic acrylic paints I got, in two beautiful shades… antique gold and bronze. So I was really curious how the wood will look like as gold or bronze.

The idea is really simple and easy. Just paint the wooden circle with your favorite color and let it dry. The specific paint does not need much time to dry, so this is actually perfect for a crafter like me… I cannot wait long! Then apply the stencil and make the pattern with a different color. Let it dry again. At the same time, paint your little fish.

Apply glue for jewels in the back side of your fish and glue it on the circle. Let it dry. Of course you can use any strong glue, but I preferred E6000 because it is really stable.

The jewel is ready. The only thing missing is to make it necklace, by using the chain. And because I like the idea so much, I have prepared a second one with my favorite coral color!

So ? What do you think? isn’t it really easy to make it without being jewelry making expert? You can also request your kids to help you!!!!

Happy Crafting!
