diy Summer Baseball Hat with Glitter

Summer is already here and the hot sun also. This is the perfect time to use our favorite hat and of course do not forget your sun protection cream! My problem? My princess does not want hats at all… but problem solved! DIY Summer Baseball Hat with Glitter!!!

Materials for decorating an old baseball hat with glitter:

• baseball hat
• glue for fabrics
• glitter dust
• ribbon (we used a flower’s ribbon)
• scissor
• hair spray

So every year the same issue with my princess… she does not want to wear any hat. She does not feel comfortable with them, even though is mandatory during Summer at least! Of course in Greece we need to use them also during Spring and Autumn. Anyhow, I was trying to find a way to persuade her to choose and use a hat. I took her to many shops, but none of them was according to her taste. Or even worse, she did not want to choose anything. What was the solution??? Materials and an old baseball hat and problem solved. because if you put some effort to prepare your own hat, then you want to use it and show it to your friends! And of course the material that we always have is glitter!

The craft is really easy and you can have your kids helping you. First put on your table cooking paper or tissues, in order not to create a huge mess! Then add glue for fabrics on the brim of hat by using a paint brush. Add as much as glue you want and make sure that you have cover the whole surface. Add the glitter. If needed, repeat the previous steps with the glue and the glitter. To be honest it is tough to make the glitter stable on the hat, so I had to repeat the procedure twice. Then allow the glue to dry and add hair spray… it will make the glitter even more stable.

A ribbon can make our hat even more cute. Again use the fabric glue and decorate your hat with the ribbon. Let it dry. The hat is ready!

I do not know how gently your kids are with their staff, but always keep available glitter aside. You never know if you will need it in the near future!
