Sometimes it is really weird and fun at the same time, to create jewels from a really uncommon bead type. Well actually I have used in the past many materials in my jewel that are really uncommon to be used, but it seems that the jewels turned out really beautiful! I have bought the other day a huge package with drinking straws in many beautiful colors… yellow, bright pink, teal blue, neon green, pastel orange… you know, the colors that you definitely want to use on Spring and Summer. And while I was enjoying my cold coffee and the kids were playing around… the idea came up! Why not to use them to create small beads??

– – Scissor
– – Ribbons
– – Cord

Creating jewels and playing at the same time is something awesome. As you already guessed, for the next at least one hour, my kids were silenced and they were trying to create a necklace for their teachesr! That’s it! My princess have cut the straws in small pieces and they were really beautiful!
Create a simple knot at the edge of the cord and then start creating the necklace. Actually, I did nothing so far…my kids were thrilled with this craft and I was still enjoying my coffee!
Combine colors and create a short or a long necklace.
Then use the button to “close” the free edge of the cord, creating that way a lobster.
Ribbon scraps were used also (just create a simple knot) and they added more color in the necklace!
And we are ready! We have packaged the jewels and they offered them to their teachers…both wear them and they really enjoy the kids creations. That’s why we continued to create more jewels…for all of our female friends!
So… are you a person that could wear straws in her accessories????
