DIY Upcycle Jar to Flower Vase – IKEA hack and add color to your home! Let’s make this really easy project together.
A few years ago, a shop opened in my neighborhood with traditional Greek food products. At the beginning the store was having profit, but then a new super market opened just next to it. The result was that the profit dicreased, my friend got disapointed and then the store closed. Ok…what this has to do with our vase? Actually there is a direct connection, since my friend told me to choose whatever I liked from his store. What I got? Many jars, all of them from IKEA. You know, the typical Jar Ikea has with the metallic top. I got so many of them, that actually I used many and again I had a few jars left. And this was the time to decide what to do with them! So let’s upcycle our old jar to a beautiful shabby chic vase for the flowers! DIY Upcycle Jar to Flower Vase – IKEA hack !
Materials to use for DIY Upcycle Jar to Flower Vase – IKEA hack :
– Jar ( from IKEA or any jar)
– Wall Stickers (got them from Fantastick)
– Spray Paint
– Dimensional Design Adhesive Paint (in your favorite colors)
– Sand Fixative Spray
– Lace ribbon (optional)
So far I used twice spray paints and the result was awful! I did not like it att all and the diy was totally distroyed. Then I decided not to give up (you know me…) and I tried once more. This time with an Ombre style, which actually can cover any failures on your painting. The Ombre Glass Candles finished and I liked them a lot. That’s why, I wanted to give one more try to spray paints! A beautiful dusty pink and the jar got color! Allow it to dry for a while and let’s start decorating it.
One idea for decorating the vase, is actually drawing it and then paint it. I cannot even create a small ship or any flower…. I am really bad in painting, so I removed this idea from my mind. And then I discovered fantastick stickers, which actually are really fantastic! What was even greater? That I could choose what pattern to create in a sticker. I wanted something to remind me flowers, but with minimal geometric pattern, so here we are. A beautiful sticker with three Geometric Flowers! The only thing we need to do, is put them on our vase. No additional glue is needed. Just be careful to use them on a clean surface.
And now the funny part! Colors!!!! Do you know Dimensional Design Adhesive Paints? Well I didn’t! I discovered them while I was checking some other materials in a craft store. Curiocity again….and got many of them in my favorite shabby chic pastel shades. You know… pink, lilac, mint, aqua blue! It is not difficult to use them, but since it was my first time, I have to admit that this was not the perfect result. Just press a little bit the bottle of the paint and start drawing your schema. Let it dry for a few hours. Last but not least, spray the bottle with Sand Fixative Spray to make the colors even more stable and resistant to water.
The vase is ready! To make it even more romantic, a piece of pink lace ribbon is a must!
As you may see, not all the lines of the sticker are painted, but I wanted to keep the lines of the leaves as they are. And I love the result!
From a jar to a romantic vase for the flowers! What do you think?
