Diy Ikea Hack – Polka Dot Serving Dish! Guess what you can use to create a really cure shabbychic serving dish….
One of the most common gifts that actually you can receive on your wedding is serving dish! Oh yes… somehow I have received 5 of them and all of them simply gorgeous! So guess… I kept them all! Let me surprise you know… I have 5 serving dishes, but I use none of them! Yes, now you can laugh! I have none of them in my decor and this was a mistake I wanted to solve, but without this trays! So I solved it… with a Wooden Photo Frame I hade from IKEA shop!
Materials to use for Serving Dish from a Photo Frame:
– Photo Frame
– Chalk Paint (used this one)
– Paint Brush
– Metallic Handles (got them from here)
– Polka Dot Fabric
– Scrapbooking Paper
– Sand Fixative Spray
This craft actually is really easy, do not take into consideration the list of the materials above, I know they are too many! But, they are not all of them mandatory. For example the fabric! Anyway, let’s start and you will decide later what is perfect for you. So, I had a Photo Frame from Ikea and as always I didn’t know what to do with it. so I had it hidden. But I have created a couple of cute candles ( I mean I decorated them) and I wanted along with my Wooden Planter for my Airplant, to have them on my living room table. So a tray was the solution. Photo frame appeared once more and firstly I painted it with chalk paint. 2 hands are more than enough. Let it dry and then apply the Sand Fixative Spray. A tray needs also handles, so I used two tiny gorgeous metallic handles with a vintage style! The tray is actually ready!

Not for me of course… I wanted polka dots! Polka dots fabric in white and grey and the problem almost solved… and I am saying almost, because the specific fabric was a little bit thin, and everyone could see the back side of the tray! No problem, just use a polka dot scrapbooking paper in a bold color (guess what I used!) and put it inside the tray, behind the fabric. The different colors create a beautiful pattern. Of course, since I was in love with the emerald green color and the stencil I used for my other Ikea hack, the Rotating Cake Stand, I used them also here on my fabric.
Yes, now I consider the serving dish ready!
The two candles I decorated are already part of it. And how I did them? Simple. Just got two beautiful candles from Tiger Stores and then I decorated them with Fabric and dried flowers and cinnamon sticks, as I have done in the past with my Spring Floral Vases! Aren’t they cute???
Last photo… my Airplant! Well, I have the feeling that my home now is almost how I want it. I just wanted a few happy details with shabby chic style but also with bold colors and I think that so far my crafts are what I was dreaming!
So coffee anyone? I have a gorgeous new Serving Dish to use…..
Happy Crafting!!!
